What to Expect
Everyone’s journey to Jackson House looks a little bit different. No matter what your path is to finding us, whether it’s a referral from a doctor, encouragement from a loved one or recognizing you need to make a change in your mental health, we are here to welcome you, support you and help you start feeling better.
Before treatment at Jackson House can begin, all of our clients go through an admissions process. This helps you and our team make sure Jackson House is the best fit to help you address your mental health. Here is what you and your loved ones can expect:
Step One | The First Call
Our admissions process begins as soon as you, a loved one, mental health professional or primary care physician call about treatment at Jackson House. During the first phone call, our team will gather basic information about what is going on.
We know how important your support system is to your mental health, which is why we try to involve your loved ones in your care as much as possible. This starts during the first call. If possible, we will try to talk to the people closest to you to understand their perception of what is happening and to discuss how they’d like to be involved in your care.
Step Two | The Assessment
Our team wants to take the time to get to know you and understand your current mental health needs. This helps us determine if Jackson House is the best fit for your treatment. Sometimes, you or your doctor may provide additional information on your mental health for us to consider.
During this time, we also look at your health insurance to help you determine what out of pocket costs you may be asked to pay for your mental health treatment. If you don’t have health insurance, we can talk to you about options to pay for your care. We want to give you as much information as possible, so there are no surprises around the costs of your stay at Jackson House.
Step Three | Treatment Plan
After reviewing all of your information, our team will determine if Jackson House is the right place for you to address your mental health needs. If it is, we will call you and immediately set up a time for you to start the program. We are open 24 hours a day, so, if you need help immediately, we can be here for you. If we do not feel like Jackson House is the right fit, we will provide you with other mental health treatment options in the area and work with you to make sure you get the help you need.
Step Four | Welcome to Jackson House
The first thing all new clients do when they come to Jackson House is fill out our required admissions paperwork and meet with a nurse. Once that is complete, we will take you on a tour of our center, help you get settled in your room, answer any questions you may have and introduce you to the other clients. If a loved one is with you, we encourage them to stay and see the facility and help you unpack. Then, treatment starts. Our goal is to get you into treatment as quickly as possible. We know the start of anything new can be intimidating but our team is here to make you feel welcome and help put you at ease.
During the first 72 hours of arriving at Jackson House, you will meet one-on-one with a psychiatrist or nurse practitioner. This will help us develop a mental health treatment program tailored to meet your specific needs.
