Benefits of Personalized Mental Health Treatment

Those experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, or other challenges each have individual experiences and circumstances.  Facing the difficulties of such challenges can be daunting, and for many, dealing with mental health issues can feel overwhelming and uncertain. However, there is hope in the form of personalized mental health treatment, which is a powerful way to receive support for lasting wellness.

Personalized mental health treatment incorporates an individual’s unique background, needs, and goals. Jackson House recognizes the importance of individualized mental healthcare and, as a leader in compassionate behavioral health, is dedicated to providing a client-centered approach through customized assessments, targeted therapies, and ongoing care to create lasting change for each client.

Personalized Mental Health Treatment

Personalized mental health treatment involves building a care plan around you. Personalized mental health treatment can involve a number of key approaches:

  • Assessments that take into account an individual’s medical history, specific symptoms, lifestyle, genetics, and cultural background
  • Collaborative planning that involves the client in treatment
  • Treatment strategy adjustments as individual client needs evolve throughout the healing journey

At its core, personalized mental health care acknowledges that no two people are the same. We use evidence-based approaches to wellness, tailoring our services to the individual. Offerings include psychotherapy, psychiatry, medication management, and life skills training. The goal is to maximize effectiveness while helping residents feel empowered and supported.

Benefitting from Personalized Treatment

The advantages of personalized treatment in mental health care are many. Personalized treatment can increase engagement, foster trust, and reduce the frustration and setbacks sometimes experienced with general treatment protocols. It can create a safer and more productive environment for an individual to heal. Consider these identified benefits of personalized treatment:

One-on-One Attention from a Professional Healthcare Provider: Our dedicated professionals take the time to get to know you, understand your challenges on a deeper level, and provide ongoing individual guidance. What are the benefits of this focused approach? It fosters trust, encourages openness, and allows our team to quickly recognize changes in client progress.

Reduced Time and Implications of Trial and Error: Mental health care can involve extended periods of trying to fit client conditions into set treatments. Personalized treatment is different, as it leverages in-depth assessments to make informed decisions.

Overall, this reduces unnecessary setbacks, helps avoid the discouragement that comes with repeated failed treatment attempts, and streamlines the journey toward improvement.

Treatment Plans Aligned to Client Goals: A significant benefit of personalized mental health care is that your needs and aspirations influence your treatment plan. Whether you want to return to work, rebuild relationships, or manage specific symptoms, your provider will work to craft strategies that support your aims. Regular check-ins will also allow for adjustments to help ensure that you stay on track.

Relationship with Healthcare Providers: Personalized care cultivates genuine collaborative partnerships rather than a cookie-cutter approach to wellness. We want each client to be seen and heard, and believe that a strong relationship between care providers and individuals can lead to better engagement, adherence to treatment, and, of course, more positive outcomes.

Personalized Treatment from Jackson House

Jackson House is committed to providing personalized treatment at every stage — from the moment of admission, throughout treatment, and into and during aftercare — the focus is always the same: supporting our clients for improved wellness.

Here's how we prioritize personalized treatment:

A Tailored Admissions Process

The admissions process is client-centered and involves a comprehensive assessment with medical, psychological, and social factors reviewed to create a clear profile of individuals’ needs, as well as customized care planning, where data from the assessment drives individualized treatment planning, methods of therapy, medication needs, and holistic resources.

Small Groups

With no more than 15 residents at a time on a treatment program, every individual receives attention. It is important to us that clients do not feel crowded or lost among a large group. We strive to provide a supportive, close-knit therapeutic environment.

Individual Therapy Sessions

Jackson House offers a wide spectrum of therapy, all personalized according to individuals’ current symptoms and long-term objectives. We offer:

  • Individual, group, and family therapy
  • Evidence-based therapy: cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and motivational interviewing
  • Dual diagnosis support for co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders
  • Medication management
  • Holistic options such as mindfulness and wellness activities

Additional Services

We also offer private teletherapy, extending access to specialized therapy from the comfort and privacy of your own home and making it easier to maintain progress and attend sessions from anywhere.

We also provide contact with clients for a 60-day period following residential treatment as part of our aftercare services.

Outpatient Services in Portland

All Jackson House locations integrate a high standard of personalized care, but the Portland facility is different as the only outpatient option in the Jackson House network. This treatment approach allows clients to participate fully in treatment while balancing other life responsibilities.

Therapies at the Portland location are tailored to the individual, and the flexible nature of the outpatient care is especially well-suited for those who do not require around-the-clock supervision but still benefit from structured support.

Jackson House

Jackson House

We built Jackson House because we realized there was a critical gap in our healthcare system and many individuals with mental illnesses and substance abuse problems were struggling because of it. While there are many outpatient treatment options and locked, inpatient facilities there was nothing in the middle. Nothing to help people who needed around the clock care but wanted to receive treatment voluntarily, on their own terms. Jackson House is different. We provide clients with the level of care they need in a welcoming environment. When you walk through our doors, we will meet you wherever you’re at and help you on your journey toward feeling better.
