We built Jackson House because we realized there was a critical gap in our healthcare system and many individuals with mental illnesses and substance abuse problems were struggling because of it. While there are many outpatient treatment options and locked, inpatient facilities there was nothing in the middle. Nothing to help people who needed around the clock care but wanted to receive treatment voluntarily, on their own terms. Jackson House is different. We provide clients with the level of care they need in a welcoming environment. When you walk through our doors, we will meet you wherever you’re at and help you on your journey toward feeling better.
What to Expect from Residential Treatment
While mental illness can feel incredibly isolating, it is estimated that more than one in five U.S. adults lives with mental illness. Fortunately, there are many systems in place to support those who may be struggling, from peer-to-peer support groups to residential treatment.
Residential treatment refers to a form of rehabilitation where individuals dealing with mental health struggles receive focused support and guidance. This helps provide them with the tools and understanding they need to manage their mental health better in the future.
Jackson House offers voluntary residential treatment, specializing in evidence-based plans for individuals dealing with a range of mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, and mood disorders. Here, we work closely with each individual client to provide a personalized level of support and guidance.
Whether you’re considering entering a rehabilitation center yourself or hoping to support a loved one, this article focuses on what to expect from residential treatment.
The Purpose of Residential Treatment
The purpose of residential treatment is to support individuals dealing with mental health issues on their path to improved wellness. Through services such as counselling, individual therapy, and medication management, residents develop a better understanding of their feelings and behaviors and learn strategies to better manage their emotions.
Residential treatment is available to those in various stages of their wellness journeys, including those on the more intense end of the care spectrum. For many, residential treatment can be the next step toward reaching their goals of improved mental wellness.
Residential Treatment Structure
Clients move through an entry process before settling into their daily routines to help the team properly address their mental health concerns.
Admission
At Jackson House, we use a four-step admission process.
Step 1: Initial Call
The first step in the admissions process is a simple phone call. You can make this call on behalf of yourself or a loved one. Also, a primary care physician may reach out independently to discuss treatment options. During this call, we’ll gather basic information about what you are going through. We may also ask to chat with those closest to you in order to ensure that your support network plays an active role in your recovery.
Step 2: Assessment
Following the initial phone call, we’ll conduct a brief assessment to determine whether or not Jackson House is the best place for your mental health needs and recovery. For example, we may ask for more information from your doctor or speak to you in more depth.
During this time, we’ll also discuss your health insurance to help determine if there will be out-of-pocket costs.
Step 3: Treatment plan
If it is determined that Jackson House is a good fit for your treatment services, we will reach out right away. We’ll also arrange a time and date for this treatment to begin.
Step 4: Admission
Upon your arrival, attention will be given to admissions paperwork before we help you to settle into the facility. On the first day of your treatment, you’ll meet with your doctor and with other clients. You will also meet one-on-one with a psychiatrist or nurse practitioner.
Daily Routine
Your daily routine will vary depending on the nature of your treatment program. However, it will likely include a mixture of individual therapy and peer support sessions, which help you to progress in your treatment plan. We will also provide medication management services as needed.
At Jackson House, we offer around-the-clock support. This means that you can access help or guidance when you need it, no matter the time of day.
Treatment Options
We utilize a wide variety of treatment modalities at Jackson House, including but not limited to:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to support clients in getting in tune with their feelings and behaviors
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy for those struggling with the management of complex emotions
- Trauma-Informed Therapy to support those dealing with traumatic experiences and memories
- The 12-Step Program for individuals dealing with addictive behaviors
Community and Comfort
One of the reasons why residential treatment programs are so successful is that they allow participants to become part of a community. This, coupled with a homelike environment, creates an atmosphere for emotional healing. Residents are reminded that they are not alone on the road to mental wellness.
We build a sense of community into our facilities by hosting bonding activities such as group meal preparation and group therapy sessions.
Personalized Resources
Our team will work closely with you to ensure that your plan is directly tailored to your needs, goals, and expectations. This will allow you to make the most out of your time at Jackson House. Throughout your treatment, you’ll interact with therapists, peer support specialists, and nurses, each of whom shares the common goal of helping you feel better.
Many residents stay at Jackson House for two weeks; however, each journey is customzied based on personalized needs.
Transitioning from Residential Treatment
The support you receive from Jackson House doesn’t end once your initial treatment plan is complete. We’ll work closely with you to develop a plan that helps you bridge the transition between residential treatment and your day-to-day life away from the center. Our aftercare services include keeping in touch with former residents for the 60 days following program completion, as well as multiple scheduled events to keep individuals connected.
