We Treat Anxiety

According to the World Health Organization, anxiety disorders are the most common mental illnesses worldwide. They affect millions of people, making even simple, everyday tasks feel overwhelming. The constant worry, restlessness, and physical symptoms of anxiety can disrupt relationships, work, and personal happiness.

At Jackson House, we understand how challenging it can be to manage anxiety on your own. Our compassionate and dedicated team is here to help you find relief and regain control of your life.

According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, more than 40 million adults in the United States—just over 19%—have an anxiety disorder. Jackson House can help you manage your symptoms and instill you with a sense of hope for the future.

Do I Have Anxiety?

Unfortunately, there are many misconceptions about anxiety—such as the belief that it’s simply “nervousness” that can be easily controlled or that it always stems from a specific, identifiable cause. In reality, anxiety is a complex condition that can affect anyone, often arising unexpectedly and without a clear trigger.

Anxiety encompasses a range of disorders, each with unique challenges. The three main types include:

  • Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD): Constant and intense concern about different areas of life, frequently without an identifiable cause
  • Panic disorder: Sudden, intense moments of fear that are often accompanied by physical symptoms such as a racing heart and difficulty breathing
  • Social anxiety disorder: A strong fear of being judged, embarrassed, or closely observed by others in social settings

Anxiety disorders can manifest in many different ways, impacting both the mind and the body. The experience of anxiety often involves perpetual and overwhelming worry that doesn’t go away, no matter how much you try to calm down. It’s like having an alarm system in your mind that goes off unpredictably, even when there’s no real danger. It’s constantly blaring, keeping you on edge and making it difficult to relax or feel safe, even in moments that should be peaceful. Physically, anxiety can put your body into a constant state of high alert, which can be exhausting and difficult to manage over time.

Common symptoms of anxiety include:

  • Excessive worry and fear
  • Irritability
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Restlessness
  • Increased heart rate
  • Shortness of breath
  • Sweating
  • Trembling
  • Gastrointestinal issues

These symptoms often interfere with daily activities, making it difficult to work, maintain relationships, manage responsibilities, and take care of yourself.
